The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail is a large trail system through Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach of more than 15 miles through six distinct ecosystems. Along the route, you'll find a number of attractions and things to do, including Boulder Park, the pavilion and butterfly garden, geocaching, and more.

The trail system is ideal for hiking, biking, and trail running, but there are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy as well. Local flora and fauna can be found along the route, including bobcats, deer, alligators, otters, foxes, armadillos, coyotes, raccoons, and more.

Boulder Park is a kid-friendly playground along the trail that is the perfect place to stop. The park is located next to the pavilion and butterfly garden.
