Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is a must-visit for families and animal lovers alike. This zoo is small but mighty, often referred to as the "Little Zoo" and featured on the Animal Planet show 'The Little Zoo That Could.' Home to nearly 600 animals, 118 species, and 22 critically endangered species, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo has been voted the No. 1 Zoo in Alabama. 

One of the most unique things about the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is the animal encounter exhibits. Appropriate for all ages, the animal encounters allow you to get up close and personal with kangaroos, lemurs, reptiles, sloths, and anteaters. 

The zoo opened its doors in 1989 and has been a favorite in the community for locals and tourists alike ever since. Located adjacent to a protected nature preserve, the zoo is a great place to visit and explore for a day away from the beach.
